Every month, our Head of Quality Boris reviews one of the products we as Bocca proudly work with or products we advise for making the perfect cup of coffee at home. This edition, Boris dives deeper into coffee grinding at home and tests the Wilfa Svart Aroma Grinder.
Why are we testing this product?
Grinding coffee fresh before brewing is the most important step you can make in home brewing to improve the quality of your drink. An easy way to start grinding is to do it by hand, but this can get quite laborious when brewing multiple or larger batches of coffee. grinder. That is why we want to introduce you to the Wilfa Svart Aroma Grinder.
What do you like about the product?
The first thing we noticed at the unboxing is the appealing and practical design. It is very compact, light enough to carry around in one hand and you can tuck away the power cord underneath the grinder. The operating and cleaning procedures are very easy. The hopper holds 250 grams of coffee and you adjust the grind setting by twisting the hopper around. A neat little detail is that next to a numerical indication for the grind size, there also some general brewing methods communicated for each range of grind setting. This is a good starting point when trying out new recipes or equipment.
Next to an easy operating procedure, the cleaning is also very simple. When you remove the hopper, you will have access to the conical burr set. You can remove the top one to brush out any leftover coffee particles.
What is your final judgement?
Keep in mind that this is a domestic coffee grinder, so it won’t produce the same results you would get from a professional model you will find in a coffee bar. But it is still capable of producing some tasty brews and really practical in daily use. This is a solid addition to any home brewer’s arsenal.
