We just relaunched our collection of coffees in a brand new packaging – with a fresh new philosophy. Most specialty coffee is classified by its country of origin and farm. By contrast, our new philosophy focuses on the taste profile – just like wine. If a farmer from one country has a disappointing harvest, we can replace it, keep the same taste profile ánd most important: still guarantee the high level of quality customer expects.

Eclectic year-round selection with surprises for connoisseurs

Our new collection consists of seven coffees available all year round –  Bombita, Easy Rider, Gusto, Soulmate, Ethiopia, The Blend and Decaf augmented by limited-edition Specials. Ethiopia is the only product that focuses on the country of origin – a homage to the birthplace of the Coffea Arabica plant.

A packaging that tells a story

Our packaging makeover was carried out by Berlin-based design studio Monomark. Inspired by the Ethiopian landscape, the packaging is kept deliberately minimal so the focus remains firmly on the taste profile – described on each coffee in three words. The year-round coffees are coloured green, illustrating Bocca’s respect for nature; the Specials are the red of the Ethiopian soil. Customers can scan the QR-code on the packaging with their phones to find out the details and story behind each.

In our new line-up, each coffee has its own perfect roast. This means no difference between filter and espresso, but each coffee is roasted specifically to fit that bean best.

WHY HAVE YOU CHANGED THE PACKAGING?
Because we want to give more insight in the story behind Bocca. With the new design, we emphasize this connection. Furthermore, these bags no longer contain foil but are fully plastic. That means you can sort the packaging from other waste and put it in the plastic recycling bin. Causing less harm to the environment, without compromising the freshness of the beans!
WHAT TYPE OF PLASTIC ARE THE NEW BAGS MADE OF?
The packaging is 100% plastic. This means you can sort the packaging from other waste and put it in the plastic recycling bin. It is composite plastic (number 7), consisting of PET/PET-Alox/PE-WIT (ala-free).
WHAT IS THE STORY BEHIND THE DESIGN AND THE PACKAGING?
The green of the Year Rounds refers to our respect for nature. The red of the Specials refers to the soil in Ethiopia; the birthplace of coffee. The landscape silhouette stands for the ultimate feeling of being on the road: for origin, coffee pioneering, and our customer. Someone who loves traveling the world, exploring, and who will cycle the extra five minutes for the perfect cup of coffee.
WHAT IS THE REASON FOR A NEW CATEGORISATION OF THE COFFEE LINE-UP?
It enables us to form long term commitments to and partnerships with our farmers, so we can guarantee constant delivery of top quality coffees.
WHAT EXACTLY ARE THESE YEAR ROUND COFFEES?
These are 7 coffees that are available throughout the whole year. Each coffee has its own unique flavour profile consisting of three key words, and its own 'perfect roast'. This means it is roasted specifically to fit that bean best. The Year Rounds are named: The Blend, Gusto, Bombita, Easy Rider, Soulmate, Ethiopia and Decaf.
WHAT ARE THE SPECIALS?
These are seasonal single origin coffees. They come from unique lots and are limited in availability. Extra Special! For instance, our Ethiopian Gesha Village, which every year has one of the best cupping profiles in the world!
WHERE CAN I FIND INFORMATION ON THE ORIGIN OF MY COFFEE?
On the back of each package you will find a short description. Besides that, this new website shows the stories and images of our farmers, as well as specific coffee facts for each and every coffee. Each package contains a QR-code, which directly leads to the product page of that specific coffee on our website. Information can also be found on our factsheets, which are available on those product pages as well.
